Mary Constance Rhynerson, known as Connie, passed away on October 6, 2018 at the age of 78 years. Connie was born to Lois and John Niles on July 13th, 1940 in Mobile, Alabama, one of five children, with two sisters, Elaine and Jennifer and two brothers, David and Vincent (Vin). Connie grew up in Long Beach, California. She enjoyed working as a cashier at the local movie theater and graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School in 1958. After high school, Connie married and had two sons, Larry and Jeff Brandenburg. Connie and family moved to Oregon where Connie began work as a seamstress and a school chef for many years while raising her sons. In late 1978, Connie returned to Long Beach and began a career in accounting. She took up Square Dancing and it was there that she met Oscar Rhynerson. Oscar and Connie were married in May of 1981. Oscar and Connie both retired in 1985 and began to spend their days together, traveling by car around the country to see the sights and visit with friends and family. Connie was adored by all she met and had a very special ability to remember the details of the lives she witnessed. She was a beloved wife, mother, friend, cousin, aunt, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. Connie is survived by her husband, Oscar, son Larry and his wife Sarah, son John and his wife Kathleen, son Ronald and his wife Janelle, and her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Connie is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, David, and her son, Jeff. Her care, kindness and love will be truly missed by all.
A Celebration of Connie’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 17, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes.
