Mary Christofferson

MARY CHRISTOFFERSON (CRUM) passed on June 3, 2013 in her home at Casta del Sol in Mission Viejo shortly after suffering a major stroke. Mary was 92 years old and was born in Havana, Cuba on December 8, 1920. Mary immigrated to the United States shortly after birth and was raised by her mother Lucy Diaz Hughes in Arizona. Her family, including her older sister Mercedes, then moved to San Pedro California in the mid 1930's. She was married to Robert E. Christofferson in late 1941 and worked to support the United States in the war effort of World War II. After the war she attended college and worked in the offices of a shipping and stevedoring firm in San Pedro California.

In the early 1950's, Mary took an administrative position in the Los Angeles Public School System and worked in several senior administrative positions at the high school level in the LA school system. She retired from the school system in 1980. In April of 1982, her first husband, Robert E. Christofferson, passed. In 1984, Mary was married to Everett Crum who was also retired and they moved to Mission Viejo. After Everett passed in 2000, Mary continued to live a very active life and enjoyed travel, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She was very active in her church—the Presbyterian Church of the Master in Saddleback. Mary was a certified health nut and attended exercise classes and health education classes up to the day of her stroke.

Mary is survived by her sons Robert (Bob) Christofferson, and Jerry Richard Christofferson. She is also survived by her sister, Mercedes Reese of San Pedro, CA who will be 95 in July and by 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
