Martha Elder

December 29, 1934 — January 20, 2012

Martha is a longtime member of Nativity Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of America. She is a life member of The Ladies Auxillary VFW Post 1622. She is very patriotic and loved meeting her friends at teh annual reunions of 5th Regimental Combat Team and the 24th Infantry Division Associations until she was unable to fly. She never missed attending the mini reunion of 24th I.D. in Laughlin, Nevada where she could go by car. Martha always enjoyed Sunday morning breadfasts at the VFW of Torrance Elks Club with her friends. Everyone who knew her, loved her. She was the spark that lit up the room. She will always be remembered. Martha is survived by her husband; F. Curtis Elder, son; Gary Elder, daughter; Lisa Tallman, 3 grandchildren; Michael, Amanda and Luie Tallman. She is also survived by her 9 siblings; Sara, Esperanza, Ramon, Jose Maria "Chema", Concepcion "Chon", Teresa, Refugio "Cuca", Guadalupe "Lupe", and Jesus "Chui" as well as many nieces and nephews. The viewing will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2012 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Green Hills Memorial Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, Ca. A funeral mass will be Monday, January 30, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at Nativity Catholic Church, 1447 Engracia Avenue in Torrance, Ca. with an interment to follow at Green Hills Memorial Park.
