Marleen V. Emenger

Marleen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She passed away on April 14, 2012 at her home in Long Beach. Marleen was born in San Pedro, California, on December 30, 1937. She graduated from Torrance High School in 1956 and married the love of her life, Robert S. Emenger, on August 2, 1956. They were happily married for 56 wonderful years and raised 4 children together. She retired after 22 years as a supervisor of the art department at Verizon Communications. She was preceded in death by her mother, Florence Anna Carlson and her father, Captain John Osborne Svensson. She was very proud of her Swedish heritage and loved family gatherings. She made every holiday and birthday a special celebration. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and had a very special relationship with each one of them. She is survived by her loving husband, Bob; her four children, Robert "Bobby" Emenger, Jr. (Nancy); Billy Emenger (Melanie); Pamela Emenger and Susanne "Sam" Emenger; her six grandchildren, Nickolas Emenger and Garrett Grigg; Robby and Thomas Emenger and Will and Sarah Emenger; her brother, John "Sonny" Svensson, Jr.; and her nephew, John "Johnny" Svensson III. A memorial service will be held at Green Hills Memorial Chapel on Friday, April 20 at 1:00 p.m., 27501 South Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275.
