October 17, 1958 - August 24, 2014
Mark Sharrar, son of Mary and Turney Sharrar (both deceased) and a lifelong resident of San Pedro, passed away at home after bravely enduring two different throat cancers over the past decade. Mark is survived by his sisters Kim Sharrar (David Wee) and Kathy Holcomb (Mitch), their children Michael, Melissa, Laurel, Katie, and Kyle, and his daughter, Lexi Gielen. Mark's wonderful sense of humor touched everyone who knew him, and he will be remembered always by his family and large circle of friends, including ILWU co-workers, surfing buddies, fishing partners, and AA support group members. Rest in peace, Marky-you left us much too soon. A celebration of Mark's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, at Green Hills Mortuary, 27501 S. Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes. Feel free to wear your best Hawaiian shirt! In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Surfrider Foundation.
