Marion Gonzales, 76, of Carson, California passed away on Wednesday April 15, 2020.
Marion was born on July 9, 1943 and grew up in Wilmington, California as the eldest daughter of David and Josie Gonzales. She was the 2nd of 12 children and devoted her life to her family; most of her free time spent helping her parents raise her younger brother and sisters. Marion came from a large family and never married but raised 3 fur babies: Nani, Amber, and Bruiser aka BooBoo. Yet, throughout her lifetime, she carried several titles as a loving daughter, sister, Tia, Nina, Nana, Niece and Cousin.
She attended St. Anthony High School by working in the office each day to pay her tuition through the semesters. Her higher education was fulfilled when she graduated from Harbor college and acquired a degree in Nursing.
Marion dedicated 37 years of her life as a Labor and Delivery Nurse at Harbor UCLA Medical Center, during which she conquered Breast Cancer. She helped multiple people throughout her 76 years of life; she was selfless, tender, forgiving, generous, and had one heck of a sense of humor.
Marion was an avid reader and wouldn’t pass up a good romance novel. She loved to travel in and out of the country, visiting Italy twice. She was a devout Catholic who attended St. Margaret Mary Church and lived her life in the footsteps of Christ. But as a 50-year resident of Carson, Marion’s loyalty to Los Angeles sports teams was undeniable. From lazy afternoons watching the Dodgers to Rams football Sundays and late evenings spent cheering on the Lakers. Her favorite player being none other than Kobe Bryant. She was a proud Hispanic woman who loved her coffee in the morning and an occasional sip of Tequila at night, but never passed up a fresh pot of beans.
She is survived by 3 sisters, and 6 brothers, 2 dogs, Godchildren and many nieces and nephews.
