Marie Katnic

Marie C. Katnic, age 91, passed away at her home in San Pedro, California surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. She was born on June 12, 1930, in Los Angeles, California to Carmen and Salvador Aguila. She was a 1949 graduate of San Pedro High School. Marie was a member of San Pedro Cancer Guild, Toberman, PESC, Sisters of the Poor, and the Assistance League, where she made lifelong relationships. Marie truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, chatting with friends, cooking, playing cards, and spending time with family. Marie had an uncanny ability to nourish those around her with love, faith, and wisdom. Marie loved fiercely and deeply and we take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace surrounded by light. Predeceased by her parents, Carmen and Salvador Aguila; Husband, Roy Katnic; son, Robert Gomez; stepsons, Roy A. and Stephen Katnic; Granddaughter, Jilian Katnic; and Great Grandson Anthony Roy Gomez. Those left to cherish Marie’s memory include her son, Frank V. Gomez; stepsons, Terry Katnic and Joe Katnic; Brother, Joe Aguila; sister-in-law, Barbra Katnic; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and 4 godchildren. 
“We little knew that morning, God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone, for part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide and though we cannot see you, you are always by our side. Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same. Please join us in celebrating Marie’s life at Green Hills Memorial Chapel at 11:30 on Thursday, February 3, 2022, followed by a gravesite service at 27501 S. Western Ave, Rancho Palos Verdes, California 90275. Reception to follow.
