Marie Antonette

Marie Ancich, 87, of San Pedro, joined her Maker on January 1st. She was born in Seattle, Washington to Joe and Antonette Dragich. Marie and her family relocated to San Pedro, California where she attended San Pedro High School. She married her husband, Pete Ancich in 1958 and together they shared 42 years together and raised four children.

Marie matched her independent spirit with a sense of generosity. From a card game to an argument, Marie loved to win. Yet, she would also work tirelessly to provide her family with homemade food and desserts, which she took pride in creating with care and expertise. Her house was a touchstone for family in San Pedro, a place to gather, gossip, and rest. She was known for her frankness, loving nature, and sharp mind.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Pete, her parents, and her sister Genevieve. Marie is survived by her brother, Joe (Philann) Dragich, her four devoted children—Mary Jo (Bill) Brownell, Lisa Ancich (fiancé Luis), Andrea Bucci, Pete (Andrea) Ancich—as well as nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held on the 29th of January at Green Hills at 2 PM. IN lieu of flowers, donations in honor can be sent to JDRF, Fraxa.org, or Autism Speaks.
