Marianne was born May 29, 1952 in Serbia (former Yugoslavia) and passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, December 19, 2014. Marianne is survived by Brian H. Cook, her loving partner of ten years; her three devoted children, Angela Tesic (James Stelly), Adriana Tesic and Nikola Tesic (Michelle Villa); two beautiful grandchildren, Mikayla and Christopher; nephews Cornel Geteian and Danny Geteian (Amy Geteian), other relatives and friends. Marianne came to America in 1973 and lived most of her life in Southern California.
Vivacious and outgoing, Marianne made friends wherever she went. Her lively spirit and Eastern European accent drew many to her. Always curious about the world around her, Marianne loved meeting new people and learning about their lives, and she was not shy when it came to sharing her world with them as well. It was this sort of openness, along with her unpretentious nature that turned so many a stranger into a friend.
Marianne was a devoted mother and grandmother. Spending time with her grandchildren brought her tremendous joy. An avid dog-lover, she adored and pampered her two Siberian Huskies. She enjoyed gardening and had a green thumb. Plants and vegetables had no choice but to flourish effortlessly wherever she commanded. She loved listening and dancing to traditional Serbian music. Although she was happiest in America, Marianne was often nostalgic about her life in Serbia and loved to tell stories about her childhood. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed hosting weekly gatherings for family and friends. Her loving and generous nature came through in her hospitality. Marianne was an eternal optimist with a strong fighting spirit that was present even in her last moments.
