Maria Lourdes Turrell, 97, of Torrance, California passed away at her home on April 24, 2022. She was born in Cuba in the city of Santiago province of Oriente , on October 8, 1924, daughter of Alicia Brea and Emilio Lamadrid. She is survived by her daughters, Virginia Prieto and Melania Alonso l, her granddaughter, Elyse Alonso, and son-in-law Richard Alonso, along with numerous nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and their children.
Lourdes had a masters in music from the University of Oriente in Cuba and was a jack of all trades working throughout her life as a pianist, in the Electric company of Cuba, a CPA, seamstress, medical assistant, and her final position as a US Customs manager.
Her passions included playing piano, (specially Beethoven), dancing, concerts, traveling ,puzzles ,and always being around her family.
She was one of the founders of the Association of the Cofradía de la Virgen de Caridad at Nativity Catholic Church in Torrance and was instrumental in establishing the small shrine to the Lady of Charity on the grounds.
She will be remembered as a fun loving mom, grandmother, and free spirit that enjoyed her family, friends and life.
