Maria Teresa (Terri) Galicia Kendrick, age 78, of Rolling Hills Estates, California, passed away peacefully November 29, 2024 at Torrance Memorial Medical Center. She died from brain hemorrhaging related to a fall and the complications of an immune disorder she had borne for more than a decade. The funeral at 10AM, December 17, 2024, at Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Lomita, CA, is followed by interment at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes.
Terri was loved by all who knew her. Always a glorious smile and a genuine warmth. One knew immediately on meeting her that this was truly a special person. She had a successful career as a financial analyst with Hughes, later Boeing, and retired in 2005 to enjoy her home and garden and spending time with her husband. Their home in Rolling Hills Estates, replete with many free-roaming peafowl, gave Terri a great deal of enjoyment. She assigned names to the most frequently visiting peacocks, often referring to them as her pets, and enjoyed watching the successive generations of her favorites as the years passed.
Terri was very devoted to family. After her father Alfonso died in 1998, her mother Alice moved into the Kendrick home and was able to enjoy Terri’s devotion until her death in 2008. Terri found the greatest joy in giving. One never left after a visit or a family get-together without everyone receiving some sort of “party favor” from Terri. Terri loved supporting others in their endeavors whenever she could. She could be known to play a little ball or go to theme parks with her nephews and nieces, and was commonly at Jerry’s side to assist during ham radio or symphonic band events. She loved classical music and would often have it playing in the home or car when traveling, a love she inherited from her parents and shared with her husband Jerry. By far, a favorite evening at home would be curled up in her favorite chair with a big bowl of popcorn, watching for the hundredth time a black-and-white biopic of the life of some classical musician. For Terri, that would be bliss.
Terri is survived by her devoted husband Jerry, sisters Elizabeth Remington (son Jeff and daughter Vickie), Rosemary Galicia, and Janet Hubert (son Joseph). Terri was preceded in death by her older brother Alfonso (Al) Galicia (son Chris) in 2014, and her nephew, Steve Remington, who she nicknamed Pippen, in 2019.
Terri touched a lot of hearts in her lifetime. Her legacy of giving, caring, and devotion to her husband and family and to all who were blessed by knowing her will be long remembered
