Maria Luz (Lucy) Reyes

Maria was born Maria de la Luz (Mary of the light) Mora on October 20,1927 at was then called Owensmouth and now known as Canoga Park, California, and passed away on November 28, 2018 at the age of 91 years in the City of Wilmintong, California.

Her parents were Salomé Mora and Adela (Galindo) Mora and were born in Mexico and came to the United States legally like many families after the Mexican Revolution.

The Mora household was blessed with four children Lucy being the youngest and the last to join her family in heaven. Her siblings were, in order, Emma, Carmen, and Rogelio (Roy). She leaves many nephews and nieces in California, Kansas and Texas.

Lucy was first married to Efren (Albert) Rodriguez in 1948. In 1957 they bought a house together which is still in the family to this day. Their children, in order, are Michael Dennis (Evangeline), Rosalie (Jose), James and Albert Daniel, Efren passed away in 1976.

After the passing of Efren Rodriguez Lucy married Alex C. Reyes in 1977 who predeceased her in 2003. They had no children together but he inherited Lucy’s four children “for better or for worse”. She will be buried alongside him in the same reserved plot this Friday, December 7, 2018.

Lucy’s grandchildren include Jess, Luzinda, Anthony, Alex, Linda, Amanda and McKenzie. Her great-grandchildren include April, Genavieve, Little Anthony, Dylan, Ashley, Reina, and little Alex. Lucy stayed in phone contact with her nieces Leli, Morena and nephew Chato.

Services Agenda

All ceremonies will be conducted within visitation suite known as the Cove in The Green Hills Mortuary main building.

From 9:00AM to approx. 12:00 noon will be visitation and fellowship.
From 12:00 noon until about 12:45 a priest will conduct benediction followed by those persons that would like to share their memories about Lucy (Maria Luz Reyes)

At about 1:00PM our mother will be driven a very short distance to the gravesite shared by her deceased husband and companion Alex C. Reyes.
Nothing formal is planned after the funeral ceremonies but if guests would like to accompany Michael and Evangeline to a nearby restaurants meals and fellowship will be hosted by them.
