Margaret E Wright

June 27, 1950 — December 26, 2023

If you know Margaret (Peggy), you know it is hard to put her life into words. Peggy lived a big life, surrounded by so many family members and friends who cherished her. Peggy was a committed and loyal friend, mother, and Grammy who never hesitated to help when asked, or even help when not asked, You need an airport pick up? Assistance resolving a legal issue? A CIA level search on someone? Peggy was your girl! Though we can not confirm or deny if she was a top secret agent, Peggy lived with a vigor and excitement for life and all its mysteries that is unrivaled,

Born in Glendale, CA to a large Irish- Catholic family, Peggy was close to her four siblings her entire life, and is proceeded in death by sisters Maureen and Laura, Brother Mike, and is survived by sister Marsha. She had dozens of nieces and nephews and their children that she loved keeping in touch with. Peggy was a gifted organizer of family reunions, spontaneous get togethers, and Facebook posts reminding us all what we looked like!

Peggy was a proud Union member of ILWU Local 63 OCU. As a Marine Clerk for International Transportation Services (ITS) in the Port of Long Beach for more than 35 years , Peggy’s passion was the Port, transportation, and keeping informed on the literal comings and goings of cargo and our local economy. Even in her retirement, Peggy stayed up to date on POLB and Union news and her many friends and colleagues.

Peggy Wright was an incredible mother and grandmother, After losing her husband Donald Wright at the young age of 31, Peggy became a fierce and dedicated single mom to two incredible children, Brian Scott Wright (age 46), and Erin Elizabeth Wright-Wilson (age 42). The three of them shared a fun, creative, and loving life together. Peggy would do anything for her children, and they knew she was only a phone call away if they (or their friends) ever needed help. Peggy had two grandchildren: Caleb Caulfield Wilson (age 13) and Jacob Walker Wilson (age 11) who she loved more than anything. These boys were blessed with a Grammy who spoiled and loved them, and they enjoyed getting picked up from school, going out to eat, traveling, and watching funny shows together.

In her later years, Peggy committed her time to her family, her dog Mia, and her beloved friends, who spoiled her with dinners, Bingo, and dog park dates. There are countless stories of those she helped over the years, those that relied on her and called her a friend, and those who heard her name in the book of legend and hoped to meet her. There is no one like Peggy, Pegster, Mom, Grammy, and Steppy G! We love you!
