Marcia Beth Maas

Marcia Beth Maas, born January 15, 1923 in Omaha, Nebraska, passed away at home in Rolling Hills Estates, California on December 19, 2012 with her family at her side. The daughter of Walter and Josephine McGaffin, she was the youngest and last surviving sister of Curtis McGaffin Sr., Merlie Bruning, and Eileen Ravanelle. Devoted wife of Robert Boyer, who predeceased her in January 1988 after 44 years of marriage. Loving mother of Randy (Patrice) Maas and Noreen (Don) Drake. Caring grandmother of Hilary Maas and Dylan Drake . She is also survived by nephews and nieces Curt (Jan, dec.) McGaffin Jr., Marguerite (Bill) Rush, Richard (Charmaine) Bruning, Gordon (Marian) Bruning, Jim (Peggy) Amato, Grace (Don) Ramsay, Patty (Bruce) Detterich, and numerous grand-nieces and nephews. Lovingly remembered by her constant companion Martin Elliott, and her dearest friends, Berdie Adkins and Jonilyn Blandy. Marcia made the trip from Omaha, Nebraska by train to Redondo Beach, California at age 13, where she made her home. A lover of the arts, she volunteered at the Norris Theatre as an usher for many years. She also enjoyed movies, music, theatre, the beach, Noah's bagels, and herThursday dinner gatherings with friends at the The Red Onion restaurant. The family wishes to thank Carolyn Orio, her caregiver, for her dedicated service and support. Visitation will take place Thursday, December 27 from 5pm to 9pm at Green Hills Mortuary, Rancho Palos Verdes. A funeral Mass will be said on Friday, December 28 at 1pm at St. John Fisher Catholic Church, Rancho Palos Verdes. Burial will take place at Green Hills Memorial Park following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations to The American Cancer Society or Dear Jack Foundation, which supports young adult cancer patients, would be greatly appreciated.
