Lucy Grieco, a 93-year resident of San Pedro, peacefully passed away on November 23, 2015, in the same house (which was built by her father) she was born in, on June 16, 1922. She worked at the Strand theater in San Pedro, where she met her future husband, Rocky Grieco. They were married on June 26, 1943 and lived 62 happy years together, until he passed away on December 24, 2005. Lucy is preceded in death by her son, Joseph Grieco; parents John Joseph Califano and Maria Giuseppina (Trani) Califano; siblings Anthony Califano and Esther Amalfitano; sons-in-law Salvatore Ciaramitaro and Frank Mazzello; brother-in-law Aniello Grieco and sister-in-law Antonette Grieco; and many more relatives and friends. She is survived by her children, Angela Ciaramitaro, Nick (Julie) Grieco, and Joanne (Michael) Schiazzano; sisters-in-law Josephine Synstelien and Joy (Richard) Rackemann; grandchildren, Peter (Debbie) Ciaramitaro, Luci (Sal) Salvato, Elyse (Bobby) Pranin, Rocky (Kelly) Ciaramitaro, Nicole Grieco, Christine Mazzello, Gina Schiazzano and Joseph Schiazzano; great-grandchildren, Samatha (David) Cisneros, Anthony Perez, Tommy Ciaramitaro, Serena Sanchez, Raquel Ciaramitaro, Angelina Salvato and Rocco Salvato, and Gianna Ciaramitaro; great-great-grandchildren, Liliana and Nathan Cisneros; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lucy was a St. Anne's Altar Society member for many decades, always willing to bake her delicious pound cakes for their bake sales. She enjoyed her many travels with the Senior Citizens, but especially loved the many cruises she went on as a Princess Cruises platinum card holder. Lucy loved watching old movies and going out to lunch. She was a very generous and feisty woman, and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her. The family would like to thank her wonderful caregiver, Lyneth Natividad for all that she did. Visitation will be held at Green Hills Mortuary on Wednesday, December 2, 3-8pm. Funeral mass will be held at Mary Star of the Sea Church on Thursday, December 3, at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mary Star High School Building fund, in Lucy's name.
