Lucy was born in Ischia Italy to Giovanna Sorrentino and Vincenzo DiLeva. She immigrated to the United States at 6 years old in 1937. She attended Mary Star of the Sea Elementary School, and graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in Long Beach. She worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for Ocean Fish Company for over 40 years, and for Standard Fish in the last few years of her career.
Lucy was preceded in death by her mother, father and older brother, John Joseph DiLeva. She is survived by her younger brother Ralph DiLeva and his wife Peggy; sister-in-law Pat DiLeva; nieces and nephews: Giovanna (Bill) Mannino, Vince (Stephanie) DiLeva, Jimmy (Lea) DiLeva, Jon (Carrie) DiLeva and Gina (Brad) Ballard; and numerous great-nieces and nephews and cousins. Everyone loved Auntie Lu!
Special thanks to Little Sisters of the Poor where she volunteered and resided for 16 years. She had a deep love for the Sisters and staff, and so appreciated the wonderful care they gave her.
Special thanks to all her doctors and the ICU Unit staff at Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center- San Pedro for the superior care they gave her in the last few days of her life.
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 10th at 10:15 am at Holy Trinity Church. Internment at Green Hills will be private.
