Lucille McComas of Harbor City, CA was born in Bangs, Texas to Claude and Madie Osborne. The family, including sisters Sadie Stockwell and Kathryn Fernald, later relocated to Dallas. Lucille remained a loyal Texan throughout her life, she had many memories and stories, especially riding the neighbor’s Clydesdale horses. In 1941 Lucille came to California to visit her sister, met her future husband, Cleo McComas who was serving in the US Army stationed at Fort MacArthur in San Pedro. They were married for over 50 years until his death in 1994. While raising three daughters she volunteered in various positions with the Torrance First United Methodist church and various Torrance school PTA’s. She was employed at JC Penney’s and Bank of America. In her 80’s, she began volunteering with the Torrance Historical Society. Lucille loved road trips and traveled extensively with various children and grandchildren. She remained a loyal Disneyland annual pass holder until a fall put her in the hospital. She was transferred to Lomita Care Center, where she became the Bingo Queen, loudly singing B I N G O with each win. Her Granddog Chewie was a nightly visitor. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Lomita Care Center. Her parents preceded Lucille in death; husband Cleo and sisters Sadie Stockwell and Kathryn Fernald. She is survived by her daughters; Charlotte Kyes, Cleoan Ferm and Betty Scherer (Ron).; Grandchildren; Kim Rossi (Joe), Scott Tiernan, Kelly Eilertson (Bryan), Angela Saldivar (Ryan), Denise Beatty (Rico), Kristie Maupin (Troy) and Michael Scherer (Tammy); 12 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews also survive her. Lucille lived a full and happy life in her 99 years surrounded by the love of family and friends. Service will be held 2:00PM, Wednesday, Aug 8th at Green Hills Memorial Park.
