Lucile Virginia Simpson

October 11, 1920 — January 4, 2017

Lucile Virginia Anderson was born in Lindström, Minnesota on October 11, 1920; she was the second eldest of six children, all raised in Minnesota.

During WWII, Lucile, her sister and a girlfriend ventured to California. Lucile found work at Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica, where met her future husband, Clyde Simpson. They married in 1947 and settled in Westchester, where they raised their family and became active members at Westchester Lutheran Church. Lucile taught Sunday School and later became a Preschool Teacher at Westchester Lutheran Church Preschool. After retirement, Lucile and Clyde enjoyed traveling and spending time with many friends and family.

After a brief illness, Lucile passed away January 4, 2017 at age 96.

Lucile was predeceased by Clyde and their son, Steven. She is survived by her children, Virginia (William) Mathiasen, Kent Simpson, LeAnn Simpson, Sharon (Richard) Tennant; grandchildren, Brian Mathiasen, Chris (Thuy) Mathiasen, Tim, Teri & Todd Wheeler, and Ashley Tennant; sister, Evelyn (George) Kempton, and brother, Glenn (Gloria) Anderson.

Memorial Service is Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 11:00 am, with a luncheon to follow the service. Westchester Lutheran Church, 7831 S Sepulveda Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90045.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Lucile's name to either Providence TrinityCare Hospice Foundation, or Westchester Lutheran Church Building Fund.
