Louis Lee Davis, 100, of Torrance passed away on November 24th of natural causes.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 1st from 4 to 8 p.m. at Green Hills Mortuary in San Pedro. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 2nd also at Green Hills Mortuary. Pastor Roger Hosier of Torrance First Baptist Church will officiate.
Lee, as he was known, was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on December 5, 1918. He married Virginia Pearl Bennington on December 31, 1938 and they remained married until Virginia's death in 2002.
Beginning in 1944, Lee served 18 months in the armed service during World War II, including the Battle of the Bulge, the largest battle on the Western Front, in Northern France under the leadership of Lt. Gen. George S. Patton, Jr. He was awarded two Purple Hearts for his service.
Lee moved his family from West Virginia to California in 1948, where he eventually retired from the Torrance Unified School District in 1964. He enjoyed playing music on guitar and ukulele. He faithfully attended Torrance First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his four daughters: Carolyn (Chet) Graves of Huntington Beach, Barbara Davis of Torrance, Genny (John) Morgan of Torrance, and Margie (Mike) Sweetland of Long Beach; eight grandchildren and a multitude of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Torrance First Baptist Church.
