Loretta A. Rodriguez

Loretta passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday evening in Lomita, CA at the age of 51. Loretta was born to Miguel Payan, Jr. and Beatrice Payan in Torrance, CA on October 7, 1963. She spent her childhood in the South Bay attending St. Margaret Mary School and Bishop Montgomery High School. Her academic endeavors continued at the University of Texas, El Paso and New Mexico State University. Later she lived in Missouri, Colorado, and Texas caring for her two sons while her husband served in the United States Army. She returned to Harbor City, CA in 1999 where she would raise her family and build a career working with physically and mentally challenged adults at South Bay Vocational Center. Loretta was a woman of faith, and a humble, loyal, and selfless friend to all who knew her. She was best known as a devoted and loving mother to her boys. Whether it was making trips back and forth to baseball or lacrosse practice, spending weekends in the bleachers at tournaments, or preparing wonderful meals at home, Loretta's sons were always her priority. Our beloved Loretta leaves a legacy of unfaltering strength and resolute dedication to serving others. She is survived by her sons Steven and Shane Rodriguez, sister Bernice Arrieta, brother Michael Payan III, and father Miguel Payan Jr. Funeral services will be on Monday, November 24, 2014, 10:00 am at St. Margaret Mary Church in Lomita, CA.
