Loretta Arlene (Meyer) Eick beloved Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother and Great Grandmother passed away on May 30, 2024 at 3:00 PM in the Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance, California. She was born to Louis Edward Meyer and Hilda Marie Nelson on April 24, 1928 on the farm in Vallers Township, Lyon County, Minnesota. She lived in and near Marshall, Minnesota until the age of 12 when she moved with her family to St Paul, Minnesota. There she attended Harding High School and graduated in June, 1946. She entered the Nurse’s Training Program at Ancker Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the age of 19. When she was 22, while at a dance, at the hospital, she met Meredith Kemper Eick on January 26, 1951. They started to date and married on August 24, 1951 at the Methodist Church in Ellsworth, Wisconsin. They were married for 69 years until Meredith passed away on July 30, 2021. At first, they lived in Illinois and Minnesota. Then in May, 1955 they moved to California and Meredith got a job as an electrical engineer with the Hughes Aircraft Company. They lived in Los Angeles, until September, 1956 when they bought a house in Gardena, California. They lived there until 1980 when they bought a house in Torrance, California. They have lived in Torrance ever since. Meredith and Loretta had 4 children, Kemper, Janice, Kevin and Jeffrey. Loretta was the homemaker for the family. She was always involved in her children’s lives. Loretta was involved in the Purche Avenue PTA (President), Hollypark Methodist Church (Sunday School), Election Voting Inspector, League of Women Voters, Room Mother, Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, she loved finding out about her family’s genealogy and many other things. She was nice, generous, kind and very considerate to everyone. She loved her family dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Meredith Kemper Eick, daughter Janice Eick-Swigart, brother Lowell (Buck) Meyer, sister in law Beverly Meyer, and sister Mavis Meyer Peterson and brother in law Allen Peterson. She is survived by her 3 sons Kemper (Naomi) Eick, Kevin Eick and Jeffrey Eick. Also, by 6 Grandchildren, Vanessa, Salina (Neal), Nathan (Lauren), Chistopher (Myleen), Stefanie and Jayden (Emily). Also, 5 Great Grandchildren, Evan, Ian, Maiya, Penelope and Daphne. Also, 4 nephews, Kenny, Ronald, Edward and Scott. Also, 4 nieces, Kathy, Pauline, Sandy and Jenny.
