On November 1, 2021, Lolita 92, went to meet her Lord and Savior. She was born to Tirso Canabe and Maria Urmenita in Carigara, Leyte in Southern Philippines on December 1, 1928. Lolita was a devoted and loving mother to 6 children, Emmanuel (Nancy), Cristina, Fel (Bill), Teresita (Ross), Aurelia (Art) and Amparo (Jahmal). She was a grandmother of 11 grandchildren, Christopher, Jaycob, Zachary, Janae, Gonzalo, Carina, AJ, Jayden, Addison, Samara, & Charley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pio and granddaughter, Myaka. Her parents separated when she was young so she was raised by her maternal great grandfather, Puna along with her cousin and childhood sister Alice in Carigara, Leyte. On her mother’s side she had 3 half-brothers & 3 half-sisters and her father’s side had 2 half-brothers. She earned a B.S. degree in Education and taught elementary school. Married in 1962 to her late husband, Pio at age 34. At age 35, she had her 1st child and her last child at age 41. The family moved to the U.S. in May 1971. For 23 years she worked for Harbor UCLA Hospital and part time as a teacher’s aide. Lolita was a very devout Catholic and was the leader of St Marta Rosary Group at St Philomena Church for over 30 years. After retiring, she traveled the world visiting over 18 countries, 30 international cities and 20 US cities. Lolita was an extraordinary human being who unselfishly gave her love and time to her family, friends, and Church.
