Lola Marcella was born May 11, 1934, to Cleo and Mary Dixon. At an early age Lola and the family relocated to California and lived in San Pedro, California where she attended Barton Hill Elementary School and graduated, she went on to Dana Jr. High School and found her passion for running track, and skating. On the weekends with her host of friends she would go dancing which she loved doing. As a teenager she enjoyed helping others, babysitting, hair styling, cooking, and caring for the sick. Her passion was roller skating. Every chance she could get, you would find her and her friends at the roller rink. She would take odd jobs for the summer. She was a very hard working individual. Working for a dry cleaner and as a housekeeper for a big hotel. She met and married Henry D. Tolliver and had five children. Their union ended. She met and married James A. Davis who was a naval officer. In this union, she had two more children. At the time, she was in Nursing School and completed it with a Certificate in Nursing. As the eldest child, she tried to inspire her brothers and sisters in life and love.
Her life with James was full and happy. They traveled throughout the countryside meeting new people and meeting up with old friends and other family, but always trying to keep her family, (children, siblings, parents and friends) strong and together, giving many parties and dinners.
Lola and James gave their lives to the Lord in 1976 and were very devoted to their base church. She never forgot the Lord no matter what else was going on in her life. God was first. Lola loved her grandchildren very much and was dedicated to each one. Taking them on trips and inspiring them with knowledge for the future. Lola was a sweet loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her heart was big. She would always help whoever needed her, she would say no at first, and then she would always give in. She would always say, "I love my children deeply and equally!"
Her obedience to God blessed her greatly. She would share those blessings with others. Mom has always been a strong vivacious loving person to herself as well as to others. She traveled to many places; however the most important trip was to the "Holy Land" oh what a joy it was to her.
"For now I go to prepare for all of us, for we all shall be reunited again and the joy we will share". Please don't cry for me because I will be stronger and happier. For I will be up in heaven with God.
"Remember I have LOVED each and every one of you in different ways but all the same. For now I leave you entrusted with each other. Love one another and never let anger keep you all apart from one another. Stay strong as a family, for you need each other. I have instilled this in all of you as you kids. Remember my words and keep them close to your hearts, for the Angels I have entrusted, will keep you all safe and together."
Special thanks to my son Ronnie Tolliver and Tammy Tolliver for the love you gave me during the time you both cared for me in your home and the love you showed to me and the happiness I shared with you and the grandkids. May God bless and keep you safe and strong always.
