Lloyd moved to San Pedro from Graceville, Minnesota when he was 10 years old. He graduated from San Pedro High School Class of 1964, where he played trumpet in SPHS band and orchestra, He attended LA Harbor College, getting a degree in Architecture. He then pursued further education at CSU Long Beach, getting a Masters degree in Mechanical and Civil Engineering. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi Class of 1981. He worked for North American Rockwell on the B-1 Bomber and Space Shuttle. He designed the wheels, tires, and brakes on the shuttle, and also witnessed the first flight of the shuttle on the back of the plane in Palmdale. Lloyd was awarded a Silver Snoopy Pin for design excellence from NASA. He eventually went to work for Hughes Aircraft. Returning to school at Dominguez University, getting a teaching credential in Mathematics. Lloyd taught at Washington Prep High School in Los Angeles, making a difference in many young lives and making many friends along the way. Lloyd was also a coach at Eastview Little League and enjoyed hunting in Colorado with his son. Lloyd leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Marie, his daughter Stacie Kortkamp (Michael Crow), and his son Larry Ashmore (Theresa), his four grandchildren, Neal and Amanda Kortkamp, Helena and Avalon Ashmore. Lloyd is also survived by his father, Robroy E. Ashmore, his sister Linda Scaduto, and his younger brother Earl Ashmore.
