Linda was born on December 22 in Los Angeles, CA to Keith and Mildred Luther. She grew up in Inglewood, CA. She attended Highland Elementary, Crozier Middle School and graduated from Inglewood High School 1968. The next four years she spent at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, where she graduated in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in History and Elementary Education.
Linda started her teaching career straight out of college at Hawthorne Christian School in 1972, then moved to Christ Lutheran Church and School in San Pedro, where she taught 2nd grade for 40 plus years. Retirement, however, could not keep her from doing what she loved, as she regularly returned to the classroom as a substitute teacher. She LOVED working with students.
Linda enjoyed traveling from a young age. Her first trips were family road trips driving across America. Then, while cruising the world with her family, she discovered her favorite destination–Hawaii. She enjoyed many relaxing vacations in Hawaii, where she fell in love with sea turtles.
She is survived by her sister, Terri Robertson (John Letcher), niece Heather Robertson, nephew Keith Robertson, cousins Brian Mazen (Ellen) and Delaney Mazen.
After a three year fight with cancer, she passed on July 21, 2024. She is at peace now.
We honored Linda's life on Monday, August 5th at Green Hills Memorial Park. To view that service, please access this link:
