It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of Linda Mary Lillington who passed away peacefully at home on April 1, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Linda was born August 31 st , 1952, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to Peter and Marie Bulcavage. She married her husband David in Yosemite Chapel, Yosemite National Park in1989. She leaves behind her husband, two wonderful sons, David and Stephen, four sisters, Terri, Maria, Annette, and Suzanne, her brother, Rich, and mother, Marie.
Linda’s career spanned over 50 years as a Registered Nurse, many of which were in the field of oncology, where she established herself as a compassionate leader in Nursing Research. Following her High School education at Bethlehem Catholic High School she gained her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at Pennsylvania State University in 1974, her Master’s Degree from UCLA in 1977 and her Doctorate in Nursing from UCLA in 1994. She was recently awarded The Daisy Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award, one of the highest accolades in Nursing, for her lifetime contributions in her field. Linda was loved by all her colleagues at Torrance Memorial Medical Center, who endearingly described her as a “Beacon of Light” and an “Angel from Heaven”.
In addition to her very successful career, Linda loved to spend time with her family. She excelled as a wife and mother of compassion and strength, whose unconditional love made their home a sanctuary. She always put her loved ones first and was the rock and foundation for the family. Please join us in celebrating Linda’s life. Visitation will be at Green Hills Mortuary Chapel, 27501 S. Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. on Wednesday April 24 th , 2024, from 4:30 pm – 8:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be at St. John Fisher Church on Friday April 26 th , from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm. A reception for all attendees will take place in Saint John Fisher Church, Barrett Hall, immediately following the service.
