Lily Takemiya Ray

It is with much sadness that the family of Lily Takemiya Ray announces her passing on October 5, 2014. Born in San Pedro on September 28, 1924, she was the youngest of five children of Masakichi and Noshi Nishinaka, originally of Kagoshima, Japan.
She graduated from San Pedro High School and lived most of her life in San Pedro.
Married to Dick Taiji Takemiya and, later, to Raymond C. Ray, she is survived by her sister, Mariko Ryono, her sons Fred (Margo) and Arthur (Vickie), her daughter Pauline, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was able to celebrate her 90th birthday surrounded by her immediate family a week before passing away peacefully in her sleep.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at the Green Hills Memorial Chapel, 27501 S. Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes.
