Lidia Albertoni

Lidia (Toddie) Albertoni of Rancho Palos Verdes passed away on September 23, 2016 at the age of 85. She was born on September 29, 1930, at her grandparents' ranch on the corner of Anaheim and Gaffey. The only daughter of Louis and Irma Miretti, Lidia had a brother, Domenick Miretti, who preceded her in death.
The Great Depression caused Lidia's family to move to Chino when she was two. The family came back to Harbor City when Lidia was six. Lidia attended Orange Street School (now Eshelman Avenue Elementary), Harbor City Elementary, and Narbonne High School. She graduated from Narbonne in 1948.
When Lidia was visiting her grandparents' ranch in El Segundo at the age of fifteen, she saw for the first time the teenage boy who would capture her heart for the rest of her life. He had come to buy hay for his family's dairy farm. Because they were not formally introduced that day, Lidia actually met Richard (Dick) Albertoni at a Fourth of July barbecue at his parents' ranch a few weeks later. They married in 1949, and lived in love until Dick's passing three years ago.
Once they got married, Dick and Lidia lived in Gardena, California, near the family dairy farm. Her life's work was loving Dick and raising their five children. She was deeply religious, and served the Women's Council of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Gardena. The family moved to the Palos Verdes Peninsula in 1973, and Lidia served as Captain of her neighborhood Women's Guild of St. John Fisher during the 1980's.
As their children got older, Lidia studied for and obtained a real estate license so she could help Dick with his real estate business. As was the case in every endeavor Dick took on after their marriage, Lidia offered him support, encouragement, and expertise while they ran Albertoni Realty in Peninsula Center together.
Lidia's closest survivors include daughters Linda and Diane of Rancho Palos Verdes, Susan, of San Pedro, Kathleen Kohama (Steve) of Beaverton, Oregon, and son Richard (Sanna) of Verona, Wisconsin. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Angela and Jennifer Kohama, her grandsons, Renzo and Leo Albertoni, and by members of her Miretti family, her Barra family, and her Albertoni family.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at 12:00 PM, in the historic church at Green Hills Memorial Park, located at 27501 South Western Avenue in Rancho Palos Verdes.
