Leonila Jose Rivera

Leonila Jose Rivera of Carson CA passed away on July 19, 2022 at the age of 91.

Nila, as she was fondly called, was born on April 11, 1931 in Bocaue, Bulacan Philippines. Together with her husband Mel, they were part of the teaching force of Bulacan.

Nila did not only teach elementary education but was also a proficient piano player and teacher as well.

She is survived by her daughter, Emma, sons, Edgar, Eddie, Efren, Eric, Emilio (Boyet), Evan, several grandchildren, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, relatives and friends.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to friends, colleagues, and everyone who has reached out and provided comfort during this difficult time.

They also want to thank Nila's health care team: Dr. Richard Butlig, who was her long-term Primary Care Provider and Torrance Memorial Home Health and Hospice team, especially to Alvin Banzuela, PT and Carolyn Callera RN, for their extraordinary care and comfort.

Nanay Nila will be missed and will never be forgotten.

Viewing will be held on Monday, August 1, 2022 from 4:30 to 8:30 pm at the Greenhills Memorial Park, 27501 S Western Ave. Rancho Palos Verdes 90275. Interment will be on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, 2:00 - 3:00 pm.
