Lawrence Luevano Garcia

February 18, 1932 — May 17, 2024

Lawrence Luevano Garcia, 92, passed away on May 17, 2024 in the comfort of home, whilst surrounded by his family. Born on February 18, 1932 to Joseph Garcia and Martina Luevano, Lawrence grew up in the Los
Angeles Harbor and attended Narbonne High School. Lawrence later began his career as a Longshoreman with the ILWU Local 13, where he worked his way up to being a crane operator. After 52 years, he retired from the ILWU at 76 years old. Lawrence was a hardworking man; always the dedicated provider for his family. Lawrence and his wife Stella, raised five children, Larry, David, Eric, Tonya, and Natasha, frequently taking them on camping trips and vacations. Lawrence was a devoted brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather. A generous and loving man to not only his own children but also his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren; he loved to take them all on outings and adventures. Frequently being spotted in his favorite, iconic Hawaiian print shirts, you would often find him going to car shows with his daughter Tonya and son-in-law Adrian. He loved taking his grandchildren to breakfast on weekends and taking them for walks around Wilmington. As an avid traveler, he traveled to many countries, both with his wife Stella and his sister Gloria Ruiz. Lawrence loved being outside in the sun, listening to jazz, admiring the sunlit sky, with a cold one in hand. He was passionate about cars, motorcycles, and loved a smooth brandy cocktail after a piping hot meal. He could make anyone laugh with the subtleties of his jokes and his
charismatic impressions. Lawrence was predeceased by his wife Stella, his son Eric, and his grandchildren Lexi and Eli Garcia. He is survived by his children Larry, David, Tonya and Natasha; his grandchildren: Anthony, Christopher, Briana, Naomi, Desiree, Frank, Jazlyn, Kendall, Cheyenne, and Jeremiah; as well as his great-grandchildren Nathan, Stacy, Wyatt, Axel, Autumn, Jaelene, and Abel. Services will be held at Green Hills Mortuary. The viewing is to be held Friday, May 31 st at 4:30pm; the funeral, to commemorate his life will be held Saturday, June 1 st at 9:00am.
