Lawrence "Larry" E. Cothran

Lawrence Ervin Cothran passed away on Sunday, February 17 of 2019. He was 86 years old.

He was born in Central, South Carolina in 1933, where he lived in the house his father had built. He grew up with seven brothers and sisters. He attended Clemson University from 1950 to 1952, and returned in 1954 after spending time in a hospital for tuberculosis. He graduated in 1956, having gained a degree in ceramic engineering.

He was married to Jacquiline Grisham in 1958 in La Mesa, California, whom he took back to South Carolina. In 1961 he moved his wife and son to California, where his daughter was soon born. He worked in the aerospace industry. He was remarried to Donna Whitely in 1986, to whom he was married until his death.

He was employed over the years by Grumman Aircraft, Douglas Aircraft (which later became McDonnell Douglas), the C. F. Braun Company, Garrett AiResearch, and Aerospace Corp., as well as the National Reconnaissance Organization.

His hobbies included the remodeling project of his house in Rolling Hills Estates, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle with his wife Donna, and Clemson football.

In addition to his brothers Ken, Doug, and Wayne and his sisters Doris, Peggy, and Pat, he is survived by his beloved wife Donna, his two children Martin and Sheri, his daughter-in-Law Joyce, and his grandchildren Thomas, Ann, John, and Timothy. He also leaves two great-grandchildren, Soren and Aiden.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. May he rest with the Lord in peace.
