Laurie Lynn Koike

Laura Lynn Koike, 60, of Torrance, CA passed away on October 28, 2023 after a brief illness. “Laurie” was born on March 15, 1963 in San Diego CA to Terry and Hisako Koike. She graduated from Mt. Miguel High School (Spring Valley, CA), then earned a B.A. in Communications and Advertising from California State University at Fullerton. She had an extensive career in the shopping center industry, starting out with The Hahn Company and Trizechahn at showcase properties such as Horton Plaza, Los Cerritos Center, and in other major markets in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. Strong family ties and a love for California led Laurie to join developers Forest City Enterprises and Macerich as a property manager for South Bay Galleria (Redondo Beach), Arden Fair (Sacramento), and Fashion Fair (Fresno). Changing careers in 2011, Laurie moved into public service by joining the City of Redondo Beach Police Department as Support Services Manager and then as Manager of Waterfront and Economic Development. Laurie was known for her extraordinary work ethic, commitment to excellence, devotion to family and friends, and her infectious smile. She is survived by her mother (Hisako) and brothers Steven (Margaret, two nephews) and Bruce (Mary, niece, nephew).
