RIP ~ LAUREN SJOBLOM ~ 1990-2024
Our Little Lindy Girl
I'm absolutely heartbroken to share the news that our dear Lauren Sjoblom passed away November 26, 2024.* I know she really was our entire swing dance community's "Little Lindy Girl," and she was an enormous part of my life and my heart.
When she was 10 years old, she started taking Lindy Hop classes with me and Peter Flahiff along with her dad, Brad Sjoblom. Within two months (and no kidding) she was better than us. She was not only a little Mozart of swing dancing, but she was adorable, funny, and fun. This beautiful child just loved her Lindy Hop friends and we loved her.
She came to all of our dances and performed with us on stage in "Swingin' The Century, The Big Band Show." When she was 11, she wanted to have a little performance group with me and Lovelynn Ivey, so we formed "The Swivel Sisters" and we performed together wherever and whenever we had the opportunity. She even had a matching dress made for our performances.
When I broke my neck in 2000, I really have to say, she was a big part of my recovery. She would come over to my apartment and spend hours with me playing games, watching Shirley Temple movies, clowning around, and just having fun. I think you can understand she held a very dear and special place in my life.
All my deepest sympathy to her family and everyone who knew her. May her memory be a blessing.
The family extends an invitation to any who knew her to join together at her memorial service. Please share this with anyone you think may want to attend:
