Kristin Mitsuko Kumagawa

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our precious Kristin. Kristin Mitsuko Kumagawa passed away on March 2, 2023 of acute liver failure. Kristin was born in Torrance, CA on August 17, 2001, on her great grandmother’s 100th birthday. She leaves behind her father, Dean Kumagawa, mother, Jill Kumagawa, sister, Emma Kumagawa, step-father, Randy Watanabe, paternal grandmother, Harriet Kumagawa, maternal grandmother, Millie Suzuki, and her beloved service dog, Mailie.

After her 2014 lupus diagnosis, Kristin chose to live her life with passion and purpose. She cherished her friends, adored her boyfriend, Michael, and loved helping others. Kristin had recently earned a bachelor's degree in Communication from Chapman University and was working on her masters degree in Health and Strategic Communication. Kristin was passionate about disability issues and minority representation, with an emphasis on inclusion in the entertainment industry. She did extensive work in the creative and social industries and was skilled in communication, interpersonal skills, social media, marketing, and graphic art.
