Khoeun “Jerry” Sum was born on July 31, 1969 in Cambodia to Doeun Sum and Thak Oeuk. He came to America in 1981 with his parents and his four sisters, Voeun, Jenny, Sarah and Christine. Jerry attended Woodrow Wilson Classical High School in Long Beach, California. In 1990, he had his first daughter, Angelina. In 1994, he married Lindora Seursing, together they had his second child, Celest, in 1995. He made a career as a Truck Driver and was an active member of the Everlasting Word of Faith and Life Ministry and the First Pentecostal Church of God.
Jerry was a family man, who enjoyed the great outdoors, sports and traveling. Jerry was known for his distinctive singing voice and his love for music and church. He was a recognizable man in his community since he was such a caring, helpful, funny and positive person. Jerry was always a light in a dark room that people wanted to be around.
Jerry Sum passed away September 2, 2017 and is survived by his wife, his two daughters, and his granddaughter, Jasmine Sum.
A funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Long Beach New Life Church of the Nazarene (1800 E Anaheim St., Long Beach 90813) followed by interment at 1pm at Green Hills Memorial
