Kenneth David Simpson, Sr.

Kenneth D. Simpson Sr. was born on July 3rd, 1929 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Kenneth and Pearl Simpson. After graduating high school, Kenneth enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served 5 years as a Sergeant. He then served another 3 years in the U.S. Air Force where he fought bravely in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1955. In 1956 Kenneth married the "love of his life", Sara (Sally) J. Schaeffer, and in 1964 they moved to California, settling in the city of Carson. Kenneth worked in construction for over 25 years, retiring in 1984. He continued working by building and re-storing furniture. He enjoyed sports, especially Nascar, as well as a wide range of music genres, from the Big Bands, Opera, Country, Rock, even the latest alternative music.

Kenneth and Sara were married for 57 years and were blessed with 4 children-Diana, Cheryl, Kenneth Jr. and Lynn; 6 grandchildren-Jack III, Nicole, Jennifer, Joseph, Tanaiyia and Konrad; 5 great grandchildren-Carina, Kirsten, Alexandria, Kameron and Noah. He also leaves behind his brothers William and Earl, and his two sisters Elizabeth and Donna. Kenneth died peacefully at home on December 28th, 2012 in the loving embrace of his family. Kenneth wasn't just a husband, father and grandfather, he was our mentor, confidant and best friend! He continues to live in our hearts and our love for him is everlasting.

Viewing and memorial services will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. The viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 2nd from 3pm-8pm. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, January 3rd at 9am.
