Kenneth Masao Okamoto passed away on August 1st after a short, but valiant, battle with cancer. He was surrounded by those he loved at the time of his going home.
Ken, as he was known by his friends, was born and raised in Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii where his love for the spirit of Aloha grew. He then went on to graduate from Mid Pacific Institute as well as the Northrop Institute of Technology. He was a proud member of our military serving in the United States Air Force. After completing his duties with the military, Ken moved to Los Angeles where he worked with Pacific Air Motive Company. It was during this time that he met, courted and fell in love with his beloved wife Carol (formerly Yoshioka) with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. While they set up house and had two wonderful sons, Ken and John, he worked for Western and Delta Airlines from whom he retired after 37 proud years of service. He was most proud of his family and his service to Western and Delta Airlines. After retirement, Dad's new job was helping out with his cherished grandchildren, Sean and Emma. His older grandson, Fred, was already in middle school at the time. How he loved his little ones, specifically holding them while they slept or by giving them "horsey" rides.
