Kenneth C. Kuecker

Kenneth C. Kuecker, 96, entered Heaven on March 7, 2015, in Torrance, California. He was born on the family farm in Whittemore, Iowa, to his parents Edward and Ida (Siems) Kuecker, the second oldest of ten children. Ken was a 62 year resident of Torrance, California, where he raised his family. He enjoyed running and had completed many marathons. He flew for United Airlines for 36 years as a career Flight Engineer. A member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Redondo Beach, California, he served as a volunteer in many positions. Ken proudly served his country in World War II, as a Flight Engineer on a B-29 in the Pacific. He maintained contact with his B-29 crew and attended reunions of his Bomb Group for many years. Ken is survived by his five children: Cindy (Jim) Patton; Diane Kuecker; Chris (Karen Schoenbaum) Kuecker; Bruce Kuecker; and Laurie (Chris Kern) Kuecker. Also by five grandchildren: Robert Kern; Brian Kern; Kenny Patton; Katie Kern; and Nick Patton. He is also survived by three brothers: Kermit, Gerald, and Richard Kuecker; and one sister: Jean Gerdis, all of Iowa. Also by numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and great grandnieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Dee, of 52 years; two brothers, Delbert and Willis; and three sisters, Lois Kuecker, Lucille Farr, and Gertrude Balgeman. Visitation will be from 3pm - 8pm Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Green Hills Mortuary, 27501 S. Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes, 90275. Funeral service will be on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 10am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 706 Knob Hill, Redondo Beach, 90277. Committal with Military Honors will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park.
