Kenneth Burr Hatcher
November 11, 1930 – March 23, 2017

Kenneth Hatcher, born and lived his life in the Los Angeles area. Father, grandfather, and caring husband passed away on March 23 in his sleep. He enjoyed living in Lawndale for the past 59 years, watching his community grow.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 66 years Phyllis Hatcher, his six sons, Rick, Ron, Rod, Ray, Roger, and Ross, their wives, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family but especially, his sister Lois Rafferty.

Ken spent his life working at Northrop for 35 years, participating in the development of the space age. He loved his volunteer life. With his boys he was Scout Master of Cub Scouts and then Boy Scouts troop 97 and later started the Lawndale Travel club in 1994.
He cared deeply about helping kids as they grew in the supportive environment of Scouts. For years he arranged monthly activities and trips throughout the LA area for his Cub Scout troop, and then monthly Camping Trips for the Boy Scouts.

Later in life it was natural for him to do the same for the seniors in our community. The travel club allowed hundreds of people to travel the U.S. and abroad. (and to Laughlin and Vegas for "entertainment") Ken was also named "Senior of the Year" for the city of Lawndale. We will miss his laughter, warm heart, and company.

Graveside services will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at green Hills mortuary, 27501 S. Western Ave. RPV.
