Kathleen L. Landry

Kathleen Louise Landry, age 89, of Rolling Hills Estates, CA passed away February 11, 2016. She was the beloved wife of John Vernon Landry for 68 years, who preceded her in death two years ago. Kathleen was born in Nederland, Texas in 1926 to the late Patrick and Beula Tynan. She was the first of seven children, three of whom survive her. Kathleen attended St. Charles Grade School in Nederland, and graduated high school at St. Vincent's Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana. She married John Landry, following the war, in 1946.

In 1948 they headed west to a new life in California. Kathleen found their dream home in Rolling Hills Estates in 1958 and they never looked back. They were among the first parishioners of St. John Fisher Church in Rancho Palos Verdes, Ca. Later while living in Mississippi in the 1970's Kathleen found her passion, teaching kids to read in the local school.

Kathleen and John returned to their home in Rolling Hills Estates in the late 1980's. Always gracious, Kathleen loved entertaining family and friends at her home, and especially enjoyed cooking and playing the piano. After retirement, she cherished the daily walks with her husband.

Her two children, Janice Landry of Sterling Heights, Michigan and Charles Landry of Anaheim Hills, California and six grandchildren survive Kathleen. She also leaves behind a multitude of nieces, nephews and great grandchildren who admire her.

Kathleen will be interred in the columbarium at St. John Fisher Church in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. In lieu of flowers, please donate to her favorite charity, Holy Family Services Adoption Agency, 840 Echo Park, Los Angeles, CA 90026.
