Kathleen Fitzgerald

Kathleen Ann Fitzgerald, age 77, passed peacefully at her home on September 6, 2024 after a courageous battle with cholangiocarcinoma.

Kathy was born on April 21, 1947 in Cicero, Illinois. After graduating from East Morton High School in 1965, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Textiles and Clothing from Colorado State University in 1969. While attending Colorado State, she met Michael, an Air Force Academy cadet at the time, and then married him in Honolulu in 1970. They enjoyed a marriage lasting 54 years, until his death earlier this year in March.

Kathy raised two boys, Brian and Brad and then went on to spend over 20 years working for the Palos Verdes Peninsula School District. Her passion for integrating computers and technology into the public school system was unmatched. Even in "retirement" she found her way back up the hill by volunteering at Peninsula Heritage School. When she wasn't working in the schools, Kathy spent her time doing a variety of craft projects, sharing coffee with friends, and tending to her rose garden.

In addition to her sons, Kathy is survived by her brother Ron, sister-in-law Jeanne, nieces Caroline and Suzanne, daughter in law Cheryl, granddaughter Samantha and grandson Jack.

A funeral mass will be held at 10am on October 12, 2024 at Holy Trinity Church, 1292 West Santa Cruz Street, San Pedro, California, followed by a short reception in the Parish Center and then a grave site service at approximately 12:30pm at Green Hills Mortuary, 27501 South Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
