As strong as he was, our beloved Son/Brother/Nephew Justin Uy passed away at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California on the evening of April 20, 2016 at 8:58pm. He was surrounded by his family members and loved ones. Justin recently celebrated his 18th birthday.
He was born on April 8, 1998 at 1:27 am at Long Beach Memorial Hospital in Long Beach, California. He was the youngest of the three children of Richard Tong Uy and Liv Seak Aung.
Justin is survived by: his father Richard Tong Uy, mother Liv Seak Aung, sister Emily Aung Uy, and brother Andrew Vannak Uy.
Justin was always an energetic, happy, and playful person. Throughout his life as a toddler, kid, and adolescent, Justin always carried a beautiful and bright smile on his face.
Justin attended Dolores Elementary School, Carnegie Middle School, and finally Carson High School (CHS). As a freshman at CHS, he followed his older brother Andrew's footsteps by joining the boy's volleyball team. By his junior year, he made it to the varsity team. His sportsmanship and camaraderie were unparalleled. His competitors loved playing against him because he brought the best out of them. His teammates loved playing with him because he inspired them to compete at their maximum potential and he was a great mentor to younger players. His love for volleyball, hard work, and dedication helped the team to win the city championship. Justin soared to the top as one of the top 10 volleyball players to watch in the city. He had so much love for his coaches, his brotherhood teammates, and the volleyball community.
As a student, since elementary and through high school, Justin had always maintained a GPA of above 3.5. At Carson High, Justin had many Advanced Placement classes and was getting ready to graduate this June 2016 with a GPA of 3.9.
Justin will always be remembered by his loved ones, family, and friends for his love for volleyball, excellence in academics, cheerful personality, and his selflessness of putting others before himself.
