Julieta Marie Quirce

Julieta Quirce, 106, passed away on July 29, 2024, at Caring House in Torrance, CA. She was born on June 18, 1918, in Cartago, Costa Rica, the daughter of Luciano Rojas and Esmeralda Guardia. Julieta graduated from Nursing School in San Jose, Costa Rica. Following her graduation, she worked as a nurse for the United Fruit Company in Parrita, Costa Rica before moving to Panama where she met and married William Ira Carroll. Together they came to the United States and settled in New York City where they lived with their two children, Betty, and Barbara Carroll. After a divorce, she moved to Los Angeles with the children, where she worked as a nurse at Queen of Angeles Hospital. She married Danilo Quirce, and they had two daughters, Julie, and Yvonne. In 1951, the family bought a home and settled in Manhattan Beach. She went to work at Hughes Aircraft in Research &Development until she retired. Julieta was very independent and self-reliant. She loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit many destinations around the world. She loved spending time with her family, and her home was the center of many wonderful gatherings with family dinners, celebrating birthdays and holidays or playing dominoes or poker.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Flora Myers and her brother, Elias Rojas. Her family includes daughters, Betty Higginbottom of Pendleton, Oregon, Barbara Brand and her husband, Tony of El Dorado Hills, CA, Julie Hallgrimson and her husband, David of Redondo Beach, CA, Yvonne Peltz of Murrieta, CA; thirteen grandchildren, Kathy Enciso, Karen Olivera, Kristian Higginbottom, Anthony Guerra, Rito Guerra, Stephen Brand, Eric Brand, Ingrid Hallgrimson, Cristine Lubeck, Brynja Hallgrimson, Jose Hallgrimson, Aaron Peltz, Ashley Peltz; eighteen great- grandchildren, Joseph Quintana, Robert Alcala, Raymond Enciso, Rueben Enciso, Rolando Enciso, Nicolas Olivera, Micah Olivera, Evangelina Olivera, Andre Olivera, Travis Higginbottom, Ryan Higginbottom, Caillan Guerra, Julian Guerra, Reagan Guerra, Madison Guerra, Jacob Guerra, Penelope Peltz, Mason Brand; seventeen great-great grandchildren; one great-great-great grandchild; many nieces and nephews. A service of remembrance will be held, 2:00PM, Friday, September 6, 2024 at Green Hills Memorial Chapel, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.
