Judith Kay Opdahl passed away on November 8, 2024, at the age of 82. She was born in Davenport, Iowa, to Harvey and Freda Johansen on July 2, 1942, and was a long-time resident of Southern California for 61 years. Among her many achievements, she was a successful real estate developer and served as the executive director of the South Bay’s Cancer Support Community (formerly known as The Wellness Community) for over 25 years. In recognition of her contributions, she was honored as the Redondo Beach Woman of the Year in 2014.
Her passions included photography, gardening, travel, and shopping, and she had a profound love for dogs throughout her life. She is survived by two sons, Damon Howe of Redondo Beach, and Daren Howe of Torrance, along with his fiancée Lisa Jensen and their child Stone Howe - Judith’s grandson and love of her life.
Judith was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Terry, and two brothers, Jerry Johansen and John Johansen. A private ceremony is planned, with a celebration of life to be held at a future date at the Cancer Support Community.
