Juanita V. Hawks

Juanita was born on September 14, 1919 and passed away on August 29, 2011. She was born in Elba, Colorado, the second of four children, of Henry and Edna Drews.
The family moved to Wilmington, California in 1928 and Juanita graduated from Banning High School in 1937. Juanita married Daniel W. Cross on Sept. 17, 1939 and they built their home in Lomita, CA where they raised four children: twins, Harry and Larry, James and Roxie Cross.
Juanita and her family were active members of the First Assembly of God Church of Wilmington, CA. She was an excellent seamstress and was the owner of Juanita's Fancy Draperies for many years. Her husband, Daniel, passed away in 1979.
In 1983, Juanita married Fowler L.G. Hawks and they remained together until his death in 2006. She was also preceded in death by two of her sons, Harry D. Cross and Rev. James D. Cross.
Juanita enjoyed a blessed life of good health and happiness and she treasured each moment she spent with her 14 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Friends are invited to join the family at the Viewing on Tuesday, Sept. 6th at Green Hills Mortuary 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 7th at 1:00 pm at the Green Hills Chapel, immediately followed by the Graveside Service.
