It saddens me to announce the death of my beloved mother Josephine Smith. Mother died following a long decline in her mental and physical health after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease in 2001 at the age of seventy-five.
She passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday morning January 24 at her home in Newbury Park. She was forty-eight days shy of her ninetieth birthday. We were so hoping- she'd make that milestone.
Most of her California work history was in the aerospace industry as an engineering laboratory technician. Her last position was with Boeing Industries before she retired.
She was a very talented oil painting artist as well as enjoying cake decorating hobby in her retirement.
Surviving is her daughter George Ann Wishon (Michael spouse), Carey Blake Wishon grandson. Her surviving sisters Noveline Stewart of lN, Beatrice Murphree of SC.
Predeceased by her husband Grady Smith, sisters lrene Thomas of GA, Ocieville Ragsdale of SC, and Ruby Reeves of AL.
She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, my father, at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM followed by a small graveside service on February 4, 2016 at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in her memory, to Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
