Josephine (aka) Josie, Mom, and Nana, was born in San Pedro on Sept 28, 1923 to Anton and Yurka (Furcic) Gasperov. She was the 3rd of 5 children born to them.
She attended Barton Hill Elementary, Dana Junior High, and graduated from San Pedro High School in 1942. She met Ted Jackson that year and they married on Sept. 17, 1942. Ted was in the service, so they traveled. In 1949 their daughter Joette was born and 5 years later Michele was born. Mom went to Beauty school but mostly was a stay-at-home mom. In 1985 Joette died of cancer.
Josie worked for the cruise lines and was shore personnel and supervisor. She was fortunate to travel Europe and many states. She belonged to Peck Park Seniors and traveled with them too. Ted passed in 2006 and then she started traveling with Michele and her husband Allie.
She was a wonderful grandmother to Shannon Nichols (Chris) and Scott Fox. She was the best great-grandmother to Joelle, Jordyn, Jaycie, Lily, Cali, and Mason. She loved teaching her grandkids Croatian. She didn’t have a mean bone in her body and was loved and liked by all. In her last years she loved working on her word search books and visiting on the phone with friends.
She was preceded in death by Ted and Joette. As well as her parents, brothers, and sisters. Anton & Yurka Gasperov and Mary Vilicich. She is survived by Michele and Allie, grandkids Shannon (Chris) and Scott Fox, as well as6 great grandkids Joelle, Jordyn, Jayce, Lily, Cali, and Mason.
