Josie was born and raised in San Pedro. She married the love of her life, George in 1954 and together they raised four children. Josie was the quintessential wife and homemaker. She sewed, cooked, baked, and made a lovely home for her children and hard-working husband. After her youngest son started junior high, Josie went to work part-time at San Pedro High School as a teacher’s aide in the ESL classes. Little did she know that this part-time job would turn into a 23 year career. She thoroughly enjoyed working with the students and she made long lasting friendships with her colleagues. After attending a china painting class with her friend Lena, Josie discovered her hidden talent and thus began the literally thousands of pieces of china she painted over the years. Tea sets, plates, figurines, mugs, trays, vases, and Christmas ornaments! Josie painted ornaments for her growing family every year, in addition to friends and co-workers who purchased ornaments for their loved ones. Josie has said that her ornaments are literally all over the world.
Josie was affectionately called “Nini” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed baking with her grandchildren and loved hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas until her house was bursting at the seams. As much as she loved and adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Josie was first and foremost a truly loving and devoted wife to her husband George. They enjoyed their time together taking road trips, attending annual class reunions, shopping, and spending time with their family and friends. Josie gave selflessly to George, especially in the last three years of his declining health. Proverbs 31:10-12 says: “A wife of noble character, who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.” That was Josie.
The Bosnich Family would like to thank Josie’s caregiver, Edith, for her sincere love and care the past two months. The family is also grateful for hospice nurses, Rosie and Elsa, for their round the clock compassionate care of our beloved Josie.
