Josephine K. Appel, a resident of Rancho Palos Verdes, passed away February 22, 2020, at home. She was born April 6, 1916, in San Francisco, CA. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Albert, and brothers Tony and Frank. She is survived by her sons Albert, Jr. (Sharon), Paul (Sandra), Keith (Evelyn), Mark (Kathleen), and daughter Joanne (Greg), and grandchildren Christopher (Lee), Angela (Curt), Andrew, and Alexandra, and great-grandchildren Caroline, Ana, Greyson, Brooklyn, Graham, and Kennedy.
Josephine worked as a Secretary for the U.S. Navy in San Francisco during World War II. She married Albert on April 19, 1945, and they moved to New York for six years. Albert’s work brought them to Los Angeles in 1951. The family lived in Inglewood until 1968 when they moved to Rancho Palos Verdes where she lived 52 years. She was active in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts. She enjoyed sewing, baking, cake decorating, and bible study. She volunteered in the AARP Tax Preparation Program and at the South Bay Rehabilitation Center. Josephine was a devoted parishioner of St. John Fisher Catholic Church since 1968.
