Josephine Henriette Apo, Long time California Resident and Retired Micro Electronic Assembler, passed away in the home of her son and daughter-in-law Fred and Renate Soffner. After a very long and difficult battle with Dementia she slowly passed away in her bed one month short of her 90th Birthday on August 22, 2020 at 8:13 in the morning.
Mrs. Apo was born September 17, 1930, in Djokjakarta, Indonesia, on the island of Java to Frederik Wilhelm and Anunxiata Neyhoff. Shortly after the tragic death of her father in 1950, Josephine, her mother, and 5 sisters moved to the Netherlands.
On February 24th 1954 she married Benjamin Soffner. Together they had three children, Susanne, Frederik, and Patrick. In 1962 they came to the United States to live the American dream. However, somehow they ended up in Chicago. (ouch) It wasn’t long before they packed their bags and moved to California where Josephine lived for the rest of her life.
In May of 1976 she divorced Benjamin and was single until June 23rd 1984 when she married Stanley Apo at the Chapel of the Fountain, Las Vegas, Nevada. Together they lived in their home in Gardena California. Mr. Apo passed away at Harbor Care Center, in Torrance, California on October 22nd 2006, and was laid to rest in Green Hills Mortuary, Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
Josephine’s interests included Family, Church, gardening, cooking, and crafts. She loved animals of all kind. She was very generous and had a sweet smile. Mrs. Apo is survived by her daughter, 2 sons and their spouses, Susanne and Ken Zyp, Fred and Renate Soffner, and Patrick Soffner-Sharples and Kenneth Sharples; and 4 grand children; and 9 great grand children.
